SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Police are looking for a cookie crook after someone swiped nearly $19,000 worth of Girl Scout cookies.
More than 5,000 boxes of Thin Mints and Shortbread cookies were taken from a storage company in Spartanburg, S.C., where they were being kept before going out to cookie booths across the state, police said.
Storage company owner Brian Carey said the cookie caper breaks his heart. He's helped to store cookies for the scouts for more than 40 years. Carey is vowing to help the Girl Scout troops affected by the loss.
