Teenager injured after being hit by vehicle in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, Calif. - A teenager was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Lakeside, authorities said Wednesday.

The incident occurred near Riverford Road and Woodside Avenue just after 5:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a woman driving a Ford Flex was traveling eastbound on Woodside Avenue and had a green light when two teenage boys stepped onto the road to cross the street. One of the teens jumped back and tried to grab the other, but authorities said the second teen stepped in front of the woman's car.

According to authorities, the driver stopped immediately and called 911. The woman, who was not speeding and had the right of way, will not be cited, authorities said.

The injured teen was unconscious at the scene and was taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity. His age is not known.

The scene was cleared at about 6:15 p.m.
