ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A teenage boy was home alone when he came face-to-face with a masked intruder. Police say he heard the dog barking outside so he went out to check.

When he got back into the house, he saw a man in a black coat, black pants, white gloves and a mask standing in his home.

"Jordan came and saw the door was open and then saw this gentleman and he said that they had eye contact," his mother Becky Campbell said.

Campbell says her son had just stepped outside in their backyard to tell the dog to stop barking, and when he came back inside a few minutes later the stranger was inside their home. She says her son ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife out of their butcher block.

"And he just held the knife up and told the man to get out and the man took a couple steps forward and then turned around and then hurriedly walked out," Campbell said.

"I'm angry," she said. "I'm mad that he violated my family and our personal space. I think, more so than that obviously I'm mad that he scared my son and you know took that innocence away that you thought you were safe and protected inside your own home."

Police say the suspect was 6 feet tall and thin. They searched the neighborhood but so far haven't been able to find him.
