CHULA VISTA, Calif. -
10News attempted to talk to a local teacher suing one of her students for harassment, but she avoided questions.
Bonita Vista High School science teacher Erendira Rangel filed a lawsuit against Dustin Swanson, claiming the high school senior, among other things, swore at her.
In the lawsuit, Rangel claims Swanson cornered her in a classroom when no one else was inside. She said he cursed at her.
On Wednesday, 10News reporter MaryAnn Martinez tried to talk to Rangel at her home, but the teacher refused to answer any questions.
"Ms. Rangel, can you tell me how many students you have lawsuits against? How do you feel about them being dismissed?" asked Martinez.
Rangel declined to answer and drove away.
Rangel is currently out of the classroom because she said the harassment has made her sick.
According to documents obtained by 10News, she's had run-ins with more than one student.
10News learned Rangel filed a restraining order against a different student, Angel Lewis. She claims Lewis harassed her last August, and three days later, a temporary restraining order against him was granted.
However, less than a month later, the case was dismissed.
The mother of one of the accused students told 10News she believes Rangel has made similar accusations against other students.
