Sweetwater Union High School District names Dr. Tim Glover its interim superintendent

SAN DIEGO - The Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees named Dr. Tim Glover its Interim Superintendent on Wednesday, replacing Ed Brand.

According to district officials, Glover recently served as the Assistant Superintendent of the Student Services and Programs Division at the San Diego County Office of Education.

Glover previously worked in the Chula Vista Elementary School and Sweetwater Union High School districts. He served as principal of Salt Creek, Greg Rogers and Olympic View elementary schools, and assistant principal of Hilltop Middle and High schools in the Sweetwater District.

"This is an exciting opportunity not only for me and my family, but for the entire South Bay Community," said Glover, a Castle Park High graduate. "There are great things going on in the Sweetwater Union High School District and my focus will be on how to enhance these accomplishments by our students and our staff and usher the district into the future."

"The Board of Trustees is very excited about naming Dr. Tim Glover as our Interim Superintendent. He is a person with unwavering integrity and a known problem-solver throughout the County," said Board President John McCann. "The Sweetwater Union High School District is focused on moving forward and ensuring our continued commitment to student achievement and academic success."

On Monday, the board voted to place Brand on paid administrative leave -- effective July 3 and ending Oct. 2 when his contract was to expire.

Brand was set to retire in October when his contract expires. He will still collect his annual salary of $252,000 while on leave. Trustees said they will likely use him as a consultant.
