SAN DIEGO -

A suspicious device brought to a fire station in San Carlos on Sunday has been ruled harmless.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. in the 6500 block of Cowles Mountain Boulevard.

A person who purchased the device from an estate sale brought it to the fire station out of caution.

Firefighters took the device to a vacant lot nearby and called on the department's Bomb Squad to investigate.

Upon further investigation, they realized the device was a World War II training bazooka rocket. They also determined it was harmless, since there were no explosives inside because it was a training round.
