A custodian found the plastic soda bottle wrapped in duct tape at the school at 2807 Fairmount Ave. and reported the discovery to authorities at 6:16 a.m., San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.

San Diego's Metro Arson Strike Team was sent to the campus in response to the custodian's call.

Around 8:30 a.m., the object was deemed to be harmless, paving the way for classes to resume as normal, Cali said.

An investigation was under way to determine whether the bottle was left intentionally to draw suspicion.
