SAN DIEGO - A suspected drunken driver whose SUV struck two pedestrians and two parked cars as the driver left a party was in custody on Sunday.

The 19-year-old driver, whose name police withheld, lost control of the Chevrolet Suburban in the 700 block of Glencoe Drive about 1:45 a.m., San Diego police Officer David Stafford said.

"As he pulled away from the curb, he accelerated and lost control of the Suburban. He drove onto the wrong side of the street and struck two parked cars," Stafford said. "He also struck two pedestrians."

One pedestrian, 19, suffered a head injury, and the other, 20, suffered a broken clavicle and broken ribs, he said.

The driver was booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, Stafford said.
