SAN DIEGO - A suspected DUI driver is in the hospital Tuesday after crashing into three parked cars and an electrical box in Mira Mesa.

The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. in the 10200 block of Camino Ruiz.

Police said the driver of a Chrysler slammed into the back of two parked cars before the vehicle spun out of control and caught on fire.

Emergency crews worked to extricate the driver from the mangled vehicle.

San Diego Gas & Electric said more than 500 customers were initially out of power due to the crash.

By 4:30 a.m. only three customers were still out of power.
