Suspected drunk driver hits hydrant, floods Sabre Springs street

SABRE SPRINGS - A suspected drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a fire hydrant in Sabre Springs early Saturday morning, sending a geyser shooting into the air and flooding a street.

San Diego Fire-Rescue reports that the collision occurred at Evening Creek Drive North and Sabre Springs Parkway a little before 4 a.m.  The water gushed into the street, flooding Evening Creek Drive for more than an hour until city crews were able to get on scene

Crews turned off the water by 5:30 a.m. There were no serious injuries.

The driver, who was not identified, was taken into custody on a count of suspicion of driving under the influence.
