EL CAJON, Calif. - A man suspected of robbing a bank on Friday was arrested when he ran inside a nearby bank, police said.
The incident began about 5:22 p.m. when the El Cajon Police Department received a call of a robbery in progress at Chase Bank at 1133 Avocado Blvd., El Cajon police Lt. Randy Soulard said.
"A male suspect had simulated a weapon and demanded cash from the teller," Soulard said. "The suspect then fled the bank with the money and ran inside Wells Fargo Bank at 1235 Avocado Blvd."
Soulard said officers surrounded the Wells Fargo bank and spotted the suspect inside.
"Out of concern that the suspect was attempting another robbery, officers entered the bank and took the suspect into custody," Soulard said.
The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Jason Henry Osborne of Julian. Police said he was unemployed.
Authorities say Osborne was unarmed when he was arrested and is being held for suspicion of bank robbery.
