Suspect In Purse Snatching Still At Large

La Mesa police are asking for the public's help in finding a parolee accused of cutting a woman's hand with a knife while stealing her handbag in a Wal-Mart parking lot.The woman was walking to her vehicle in the 5500 block of Grossmont Center Drive around 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 21 when a green, older model Chevy or Ford pickup truck pulled in front of her, according to the La Mesa police.A passenger in the truck got out and tried to cut the woman's purse strap with a knife, police said, adding that during the struggle, the woman suffered a deep cut to her hand from the purse snatcher's knife.On Tuesday, police arrested David Ennis, 54, of El Cajon on suspicion of being the driver, LMPD Lt. David Bond said. Ennis, a parolee, was booked into county jail.The lieutenant declined to say what led to Ennis' arrest, citing an ongoing investigation.Bond said the suspected purse snatcher has been identified as 23-year- old Kevin Mann, another parolee. Mann is white, 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds, and has a skull tattoo on his neck, according to Bond.Anyone with more information as to his whereabouts was asked to call La Mesa police at (619) 667-1400 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS.
