Students alerted after data breach at San Diego State University

SAN DIEGO - Some students at San Diego State University are dealing with a data breach.

A few weeks ago, the university notified a select group of current and former students that some of their personal information could be at risk.

The breach happened within the Pre-College Institute, which helps prospective students get on the college track.

SDSU officials say the school has no indications that data was actually accessed, although social security numbers, birth dates and addresses are viewable to whoever has access to the data.
