Still no arrests in San Ysidro hit-run

SAN DIEGO - San Diego police today asked for the public's help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck an 89-year-old man with an SUV in San Ysidro.
Hilario Chairez was killed in the 4000 block of Beyer Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. April 14, according to police. The driver momentarily stopped at the scene before driving away, police said.
A witness described the SUV as a newer model, dark red Land Rover-style vehicle and its driver as a Hispanic man. The vehicle may have minor front-end damage, police said.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call police at (858) 495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers' tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
