Spring Valley grease business forced to make changes after residents complain of smell

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. - A Spring Valley neighborhood will soon breathe easier now that it is forcing a smelly business to change the way it operates.
Residents gathered Thursday at a hearing before the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District to complain about the smell coming from Affordable Grease Pumping for the past decade.
The business, located on Presioca Street, has had eight air quality violations, 10News learned.
The yard sat next to some homes and apartment buildings, and one apartment owner said the horrific smell made for an unlivable situation.
"It's putrid … it's old, rotten eggs smells … old grease," the apartment owner said of the smell.
The Air Pollution Control District agreed with the residents and said the business can collect oil but can no longer process it.
