SAN DIEGO - A 27-year-old San Diego man was in custody Monday in a suspected drunken driving crash on state Route 94 that reportedly killed his 60-year-old father.
Marciano Flores Jr. suffered major injuries in the crash that occurred west of state Route 15 shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The name of his passenger was unavailable Monday morning.
CHP officers said the driver was speeding west in a 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo when he swerved to the right, went over a curb and crashed into two trees along the freeway.
The front seat passenger died at the scene, according to the CHP and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. The U-T San Diego reported that he was the father of the driver.
Flores was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the CHP.
