Ocotillo Wells, Calif. - A small earthquake rumbled under the far East County Sunday afternoon around 1:58 p.m.
Automated USGS sensors detected a 2.5 magnitude quake on the U.S.- Mexico border, 7 miles southeast of Ocotillo Wells and 15 miles east of Jacumba.
That area, about 85 miles east-southeast of San Diego, feels frequent earthquakes.
The automated data was not reviewed by any USGS seismologists, as they are nearly all furloughed due to the government shutdown.
