Slick roads lead to overnight crashes

SAN DIEGO – There were some overnight crashes caused by a wet roads after the San Diego County region saw steady rainfall Sunday. 

 
At about 1:45 a.m., a car carrying three people spun out on Interstate 5 southbound at Poinsettia Lane in Carlsbad and struck the center divide. No one was hurt, California Highway Patrol reported. 
 
At 2 a.m., an SUV headed north on I-5 in Encinitas went up an embankment and flipped upside down, blocking the at Birmingham Drive offramp. The SUV smashed into a sign, leaving vehicle parts and sections of the pole scattered across the freeway. Encinitas firefighters arrived to find the vehicle abandoned. 
 
CHP is investigating.
