VISTA, Calif. - A 17-year-old boy struck by a car while riding a skateboard on the wrong side of a Vista street remained hospitalized Sunday.

The crash in the 400 block of Taylor Street was reported about 6:35 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Werner said.

The teen was going east on the westbound side of the road when he was struck by a Toyota Matrix, he said.

The teen, whose name was unavailable, was taken to Palomar Medical Center by helicopter to be treated for what deputies called "serious but non-life-threatening injuries," Werner said.
