LAKESIDE, Calif. - A SigAlert was issued Tuesday after a car slammed into a telephone pole in Lakeside.
The incident occurred in the 11100 block of El Nopal at about 5:41 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP says the driver of a Ford Fusion apparently swerved to avoid a collision but then struck the pole. Witnesses reported that the pole is leaning and does not appear to be sturdy.
A line was down and neighbors reported a power outage. San Diego Gas & Electric's outage map showed 1,538 customers without power in the Eucalyptus Hills and Santee/Carlton Hills areas.
SDG&E crews have been called out for repairs.
A SigAlert was issued at 6:17 on El Nopal from Mountain View Lane to Riverford Road.
More details will be posted as they become available.
