Sig Alert issued for north I-5 at Carmel Valley Road due to a big rig collision that dumped gravel

SAN DIEGO - A Sig Alert was issued Friday for northbound Interstate 5 at Carmel Valley Road due to a big rig collision, which caused gravel to be dumped on the freeway.
A report of gravel on the road was reported at 8:45 a.m. A collision involving a white sedan and a Mercedes Benz was also reported shortly after 9 a.m., possibly caused by the gravel.

The incident caused heavy backup and the Sig Alert was issued at 10:57 a.m.
