Shuttle van hits and kills pedestrian on I-5 off-ramp

A pedestrian on a freeway off-ramp was struck and killed by an airport shuttle van near Lindbergh Field Sunday morning. 

California Highway Patrol officers said a Super Shuttle van traveling southbound on I-5 at 1:35 a.m. hit the victim when it exited the freeway at the Sassafras Street/Kettner Boulevard off-ramp.

According to a CHP spokesman, the victim was a woman was in her early fifties.  

The off-ramp was closed for about two hours while the CHP conducted its investigation.

No other injuries were reported and it is unknown at this time if there were any passengers on the van when the crash occurred.

The off-ramp does not have a speed limit nor a signal or stop sign where it transitions to the freeway access road, Hancock Street.
