SAN DIEGO - A driver who allegedly rammed a deputy U.S. marshal's vehicle repeatedly in a Clairemont Mesa neighborhood Tuesday was wounded when the deputy responded by opening fire, authorities reported.
The crashes and gunfire in the 3500 block of Mount Acadia Boulevard were reported about 5:30 p.m., according to Omar Castillo of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Details about what preceded the shooting were sketchy, Castillo said. Medics took the suspect to a trauma center for treatment of at least one bullet wound, and took the deputy to an emergency room for evaluation of complaints of pain, according to Castillo.
San Diego police closed traffic lanes in the area as investigators gathered evidence.
