SAN DIEGO - Patrol officers responding to a reported shooting in northern Otay Mesa late Thursday afternoon found a fatally wounded man at a home in the neighborhood.

The gunfire in the 3100 block of Caminito Quixote, near Picador Boulevard, was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Homicide detectives were called in to investigate, SDPD public affairs Lt. Andra Brown said.

The victim's name was not immediately available, and it was unclear in the early evening if anyone was in custody in connection with the apparent slaying.
