Alex Soria Hernandez, 20, admitted guilt in connection with the Oct. 29 slaying of 21-year-old Efrain Ramos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and jail records.

At 10 p.m. Oct. 29, deputies responding to reports of gunfire found Ramos lying on a driveway in the 29400 block of Stargaze Lane in Valley Center. He died at the scene from a bullet wound to the head, sheriff's homicide Lt. Larry Nesbit said.

About 45 minutes earlier, deputies responded to a noise complaint from two parties in the area, one of which Ramos was attending, Nesbit said. Deputies asked revelers to quiet down and left.

Following the shooting, detectives interviewed about 90 people at the two parties before identifying Hernandez as the shooter. The motive for the slaying was not clear.

Both men lived in Valley Center.
