It happened Wednesday, April 12th at an apartment complex in the 700 block of 10th Avenue, where William McQueen was the on-duty security guard. The 57-year-old stabbed Talon Jordan, who said he was staying at a friend's apartment that night.

However, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said McQueen “was released from custody and no charges have been filed at this time pending further investigation.”

In the meantime, 10News contacted the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, which licensed McQueen to use a baton.

A spokeswoman said there are no rules against security guards carrying knives.  A San Diego Police Department lieutenant said certain knives are legal to carry in the City of San Diego.

A friend of Talon Jordan told 10News the 26-year-old is home with family in Los Angeles where he will need at least four weeks to recover from his injuries.  The same friend expressed surprise to learn McQueen was released from jail without being arraigned.

10News tried tracking down McQueen to get his side of the story but he recently moved from his last known address in downtown San Diego.
