SAN DIEGO - SeaWorld San Diego's four-month-old Baby Shamu has a new name.
Earlier this week, park officials asked the public to help them choose the young whale's name.
Fans of SeaWorld San Diego's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/seaworldsandiego) had to choose from the following name options:
-- Hako, Scandanavian (Norse) meaning "chosen son"
-- Valentino, Italian meaning "strong"
-- Makani, Hawaiian meaning "the wind"
The votes were tallied Friday, and with 40 percent of the vote, Baby Shamu will now be known as Makani.
Makani was born on Feb. 14.
SeaWorld San Diego said nearly 12,000 Facebook fans voted.
