SAN DIEGO - A 52-year-old man who scuffled with some homeless people in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood is recovering Thursday after being stabbed in the stomach.
The man was walking past a group of homeless people around 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Taylor Street and exchanged words with them, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.
One of the homeless people, a woman in her 50s, pulled out a knife and tried to stab the man, who punched her in the face, Stafford said.
A 58-year-old man then picked up the dropped knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach, Stafford said.
Officers arrived and arrested the woman and suspected stabber on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Stafford said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not made available.
