San Ysidro school board meeting becomes heated as teachers speak out

SAN YSIDRO - The San Ysidro School District's board meeting became heated last Thursday when teachers urged trustees to not cut their salaries.

The school district is facing a deficit of $2.6 million this school year and is proposing to cut all employees' salaries by 8 percent. The teachers' union is proposing a 1 percent salary increase.

The two sides are scheduled for a third mediated session on Thursday, Feb. 27.
