SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A San Marcos family has created a memorial to remember the victims of the Newtown, Conn. massacre.

On Monday, Lou De Lorca, a high school teacher,  and his twin 13-year-old sons opened their front yard to honor 26 people they never knew.

Dozens of strangers and friends joined them on Christmas Eve in prayer and song.

Earlier, De Lorca and his family spent the day putting the finishing touches on the memorial, which the family described as a labor of love.

Businesses donated materials for the sign. A tree lot and Local nursery pitched in with 26 pines to honor the fallen.

"This really is a community memorial for everyone hurting," said De Lorca.

The De Lorcas said this is a time for healing and to bring Christmas to those no longer here.
