San Diego police: Woman found shot in San Ysidro; suffers from wounds to head, chest

Officers say they believe victim knew her attacker

SAN DIEGO - Police said a woman in San Diego's San Ysidro neighborhood was found suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds to her head and chest Friday night.

Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to a radio call of a shooting near the entrance of a mobile home park on the 1800 block of Smythe Avenue, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

According to police, the 28-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers said they believe the woman knew her attacker.

The case was being investigated by the San Diego Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit, Stafford said.
