San Diego Police To Hold Sobriety Checkpoints

There will be checkpoint operations to check for drunken drivers in San Diego Friday and again Saturday but exact locations will not be released in advance, police said.

The checkpoints are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. both nights, according to San Diego police."DUI checkpoints are an enforcement tool proven effective in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol-related crashes, as well as being a valuable means of heightening awareness of the dangers of impaired driving," a police statement said.Drivers caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol face jail time, license suspension and fees, fines and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
