San Diego police release sketch of man accused of assaulting woman at Balboa Park

SAN DIEGO - San Diego police released a sketch Thursday of a man accused of assaulting a woman at Balboa Park earlier this week.

On Wednesday, a man jumped a woman from behind on a pedestrian trail at the park, threw her to the ground and got on top of her, then fled moments later when a married couple happened by, San Diego police said.

The husband made an emergency call about 1:30 p.m. to report that he and his wife had just interrupted the assault near Balboa Drive and Quince Street, according to police.

The assailant is described as an African-American male between 25-30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and between 175-200 pounds with a medium build.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, green cargo-type pants, green plaid boxers and white/beige loafers.

The victim did not suffer any serious injuries in the attack.
