(KGTV) - A San Diego man has been identified as a drowning victim at San Luis Obispo's Lopez Lake, authorities confirmed.

Darryl Tyler Redd, 47, of San Diego, drowned after the catamaran he was on capsized in the Cottonwood Cove area of the lake just after 2 p.m. Thursday, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department Officer Tony Cipolla said Friday.

Redd's body was found by SLO County Sheriff's Underwater Search and Recovery Drive Team about four hours after the watercraft flipped.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Redd to determine the manner of death.

According to Officer Cipolla, witnesses said Redd and two others were riding on the catamaran before if flipped over. The two other riders were able to swim to shore following the incident.

Witnesses said Redd tried to swim to shore but was unsuccessful. He was not wearing a life jacket.

It's not clear why the craft capsized.

SLO Sheriff's Deputies don't suspect foul play to be a factor.
