San Diego gas prices hit 9-month high

SAN DIEGO - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose today to its highest amount since July 23, 2013, increasing 1.2 cents to $4.08, one day after rising 1.7 cents.

The average price has risen 14 times in 17 days and is 5.3 cents higher than one week ago, 13.1 cents more than one month ago and 3.5 cents above what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Traditionally, gas prices tend to rise in the spring before peaking sometime in May," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
