San Diego fire truck struck by hit-and-run driver overnight on SR-52

A hit-and-run driver sideswiped a San Diego fire truck in Tierrasanta overnight, authorities say.

The San Diego Fire Department said the wreck occurred at 12:30 a.m. on state Route 52.

According to investigators, the Fire Department's Light & Air unit was returning to its station from a two-alarm fire downtown when the unknown vehicle struck it and kept driving. 

Only one firefighter was inside the vehicle. He was was not injured.

Crews said damage to the fire truck was minimal.
