San Diego County sheriff's deputies investigate body found in Ramona

RAMONA, Calif. - Sheriff's deputies are investigating the discovery of a body in the 18000 block of Chablis Road in Ramona.

According to San Diego County Sheriff's Department officials, a report came in regarding a foul smell on Chablis Road near Air Mail Lane.

Deputies arrived to find the body, but officials did not say if the deceased is male or female.

The body was found near the home of a 66-year-old Ramona man last seen on June 17.

Carl Salayer, who has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, disappeared last week from his home in the 17000 block of Handlebar Road near Highland Valley Road. He apparently left between 2:30 and 6:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Search-and-rescue teams have been searching for Salayer since then as concern grows due to his need for medication.

Salayer is described as white, 6 feet 3 and 150 pounds with blue eyes, balding gray hair and a mustache.

Anyone who spots Salayer is asked to call the sheriff's department at (858) 565-5200.
