San Diego County helping overcharged property taxpayers in San Dieguito Union High School District

SAN DIEGO - San Diego County officials are offering a solution after learning 70,000 property taxpayers in the San Dieguito Union High School District were overcharged on their property tax bills.
The county will be sending a letter to the 70,000 property taxpayers next week to inform them on how to handle their property tax payments for 2013-14, and 10News learned those who have already paid their taxes will receive a refund.
The money was being collected under the voter-approved facilities bond, but the San Diego County Taxpayers Association said residents reported charges of 50 percent more than promised and 25 percent more than the amount allowed under state law.
