San Diego County Fair wraps up today

SAN DIEGO - After 24 days of rides, exhibits and fried foods, the San Diego County Fair will close at 10 p.m. Sunday.

Fair officials say they hit the 1 million attendance mark last week and they are expecting to have more than 1.5 million by the end.

Fairgoers had one last chance to ride roller coasters and the crazy rides.

"It was fun. It was awesome," said one young fairgoer.

Lesa Johnson came to the fair three times this year.

"My daughter comes out for the rides. I like to come out for the food," she said. A bacon-wrapped turkey leg is what she ate for lunch.

Others wanted to check out the farm animals. Miles Fry was involved in Future Farmers of America and used to raise pigs in high school.

"Kind of a last minute thing. We knew we wanted to come but we knew it was the last day, so we thought, 'Well, we have nothing going on, let's go to the fair,'" he said.

Last year, a little less than 1.5 million people attended the fair.
