SAN YSIDRO, Calif. - A man pretending to have a concealed pistol robbed a San Ysidro bank Monday.
The thief approached a teller at the U.S. Bank branch office in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard shortly after 10 a.m. and demanded cash while holding one of his hands underneath his clothing, as if clutching a gun, according to San Diego police.
After the clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of money, the bandit -- who was wearing dark-colored pants, a hooded jacket, a camouflage cloth hat and work boots -- fled the area on foot, SDPD Officer Ed Zwibel said.
Medics were called in to tend to the cashier, who complained of breathing problems apparently brought about by stress, Zwibel said. She did not require hospital treatment.
