Robbers Crash Truck Into Store, Get Away With ATM

Thieves used a truck on Wednesday to smash their way into an Encanto-area service station mini-mart, where they wrapped a chain around a cash machine, pulled it off the wall and hauled it away, authorities reported.

The full-size pickup crashed through a plate-glass window at the Exxon station in the 6800 block of Imperial Avenue about 5 a.m., according to San Diego police.

After dragging the ATM off its wall mountings, the three bandits, who were wearing dark hooded jackets, loaded it into the bed of the truck and sped off to the east, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said.
