Residents Help Detain Suspected Hit-And-Run Driver

Vehicle Crashed Into Multiple Cars, Utility Pole

A driver who tried to flee after slamming his vehicle into multiple cars and a utility pole was stopped by Rolando residents on Monday.

Police received a report for the crash at 3:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of College Ave.

The driver crashed into sports utility vehicle and a truck parked along College Grove and College Avenue. The vehicle also hit a utility pole, bringing down live wires.

The driver attempted to flee on foot, but nearby residents ran out and stopped him. The suspect was treated at the scene and was arrested by police.

Police say the man is in the country illegally and has no license to drive.
