SAN DIEGO - Crews on Wednesday rescued a 35-year-old man who fell at Sunset Cliffs while he was trying to get to the beach below.
The incident, centered in the 700 block of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was using a rope to get to the beach when he fell, breaking his leg. A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department helicopter airlifted the man to UC San Diego Medical Center to be treated. His condition was unknown.
Lifeguards say the rope is not a safe way to get to the beach. A safer way to access the beach is by using the stairs, which are located at the foot of Ladera Street.
