Authorities find no trace of downed hot air balloon in Carmel Valley area

SAN DIEGO - Authorities Friday responded to reports of a downed hot air balloon in an area near Carmel Valley Road in Carmel Valley, but no hot air balloon was located.

Authorities received reports of a downed balloon just after 6 p.m., a witness told 10News her daughter saw a "panda" balloon make a hard landing in a canyon in the Carmel Country Highlands area.

The San Diego Police Department's ABLE helicopter and some ground crews were deployed to search for the balloon and its occupants, but after a nearly one-hour search, no sign of a downed balloon was found.

No injuries or property damage have been reported.
