Recycle your Christmas tree at these 16 locations

Program runs through Jan. 23.

SAN DIEGO - Starting Dec. 26, San Diegans can get rid of Christmas trees through the city's 40th annual recycling program that runs through Jan. 23.

Natural trees and those flocked with fake snow will be accepted at 16 drop-off points around the city. All ornaments, including tinsel, must be removed.

For curbside collection, residents should use their own bins, placing trees on the curb for collection on regular greenery recycling pickup days.

Trees more than 4 feet long should be cut in half.

Automated container customers using the large, green 96-gallon bin provided by the city should cut trees to fit into the container for pickup on collection day.
