SAN DIEGO - A driver is in custody Wednesday after leading California Highway Patrol officers in a pursuit that ended in a crash in the Clairemont area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it started at about 7:45 p.m. when officers began pursuing a black Audi sedan near state Route 52 near state Route 163. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 120 mph.
The car got off SR-52 on Santo Road and then re-entered heading westbound. It hit spike strips near Convoy Street and crashed near the transition to southbound Interstate 5.
No injuries were immediately reported.
CHP officers then took the driver and his passenger into custody. It is unclear why they were trying to pull the car over.
