Public's Help Sought In Encinitas Hit-And-Run

Sheriff Department Searching For Driver Who Struck Woman

Sheriff's investigators asked for the public's help Wednesday in finding a driver who was involved with a hit-and-run collision in Encinitas.

A female pedestrian was walking east across the 200 block of South El Camino in Encinitas at 8:42 p.m. on Aug. 23 when a vehicle going north on South El Camino struck her and did not stop, said Deputy David Toner.

The vehicle, described as a black or dark colored 1992-1995 Dodge Caravan or Plymouth Voyager, made a right tun onto eastbound Encinitas Boulevard, Toner said.

The woman had extensive injuries but is expected to survive.

The vehicle should have moderate crush damage to the driver's side front and or front driver's side quarter panel. The vehicle should also be missing its driver's side mirror.

Anyone with information about the collision should call Toner at the Encinitas Sheriff's Station at 760-966-3544 or 858-565-5200.
