Help needed in solving shooting that killed San Diego boy

SAN DIEGO - A $3,000 reward is being offered for information about the killing of a 14-year-old boy who was gunned down in the alley of a San Diego apartment complex two years ago.

Homicide Lt. Manuel Del Toro said Tuesday that investigators believe there are people who know what happened that night in March 2012 and can lead them to the killer or killers.

Police say Richard Carrillo was sitting on the tailgate of a truck visiting friends when two men in a dark sports utility vehicle drove up and opened fire.

Investigators say the boy tried to run but was hit by gunfire.

U-T San Diego says Crime Stoppers and a group from Millennial Tech Middle School, where Richard was an eighth grader, teamed up to offer the reward.
