Joseph Todd Hall, 37, is charged with murder in the January death of Anthony Tesch, 41.

A judge will decide at the conclusion of the preliminary hearing whether there's enough evidence to order Hall to stand trial.

Tesch was found shot in the head at his home in the 10000 block of Prospect Avenue around 5:10 a.m. on Jan. 13, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. He was flown to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.

Hall was taken into custody on Riverford Road in Lakeside on the evening of Jan. 15 and is being held at the George Bailey Detention Facility in Otay Mesa in lieu of $2.5 million bail.

The motive for the slaying remains unclear.
