SAN DIEGO - A blackout cut off power to nearly 2,400 homes and businesses in neighborhoods surrounding Lindbergh Field early Thursday.

The outage began shortly after 4 a.m., affecting parts of Hillcrest, the Midway District, Mission Hills, Ocean Beach and Old Town, San Diego Gas & Electric reported. The bayside international airport was not affected, according to the utility.

According to the SDG&E website, said electrical service had been restored to all areas.

The San Diego Police Department said a hit-and-run crash involving a power pole on Pringle Street near San Diego Avenue led to the outage.
